If you arrive by train, you will reach Zaragoza-Delicias on Calle Rioja 33, which is not next to Plaza del Pilar. Plan a separate journey by city bus, tram or taxi to your accommodation or the market. A single tram ticket costs €1.70, must be validated on board within one hour and does not include a transfer. Our Zaragoza Advent weekend page builds a full trip around this arrival.

Arriving at Zaragoza-Delicias

Adif lists the station as open from 05:30 to midnight. That tells you when the building is open, not when individual services run. The station information describes connections by city bus, taxi and other transport. After a long-distance journey, allow a separate stage to reach your first destination. Luggage, the right exit and the walk to a stop all take time.

Save three details before you travel:

  • Address: your accommodation's exact address.
  • Entrance: the entrance you need, especially with luggage.
  • Connection: the bus or tram route for your arrival day.

Use specific destination names. Plaza del Pilar, the Cámara de Comercio at Paseo Isabel la Católica 2 and the CADA shop at the Centro de Artesanía are different places. 'City centre' is too vague for a December evening with bags.

Trams: hours and tickets

The tram operator publishes daily service from 05:00 to midnight, extended to 01:30 on Fridays, Saturdays and nights before public holidays. For your evening, check departures from your specific stop and any service notices. The end of general operating hours is not automatically your last usable connection.

  • Single ticket: €1.70, bought from the machine at the stop.
  • Validation: on board, within one hour of issue.
  • Transfers: not included.
  • Out and back: two single tickets cost €3.40 per person.

Discounted cards exist, with their own purchase and use conditions. For a short stay, check whether they suit you before buying.

Buses

Several bus connections are listed at the station. Check the route and stop against Avanza's current network. The published overview map is dated August 2025, so treat it as orientation and not as a timetable for December 2026. Similar route names do not always follow the same journey. With luggage or limited mobility, choose a connection by the number of changes and the access, not only by the distance on a map.

Planning the return

Note your train's departure time and set an earlier target time for reaching the station. Collecting luggage, getting to the platform and waiting all belong in that plan. Save the return journey before your evening at the market, so you are not working out direction and stops while carrying purchases. Planned Christmas lighting until 01:00 says nothing about your own way home.

If you arrive early, confirmed luggage storage is often more useful than squeezing in an extra activity. The Aljafería has security checks and only limited storage, so it is not a substitute for a proper luggage arrangement.
