Where is the Christmas market in Amiens?
The market is not one square but a route through the city centre. The organiser describes red chalets along roughly two kilometres of market paths.
Place René Goblet to Place de l’Hôtel de Ville
These two squares are the stated ends of the main market. You can walk one section, take a break and continue later. Signs on the ground and the organiser’s seasonal plan and market app help you find individual chalets, as the guide assigns no permanent stall numbers. Pick a named square as your meeting point, as ‘at the market’ is too vague here.
Marché des Créateurs at the town hall
The makers’ market on Place de l’Hôtel de Ville adds art, fashion, decoration and crafts. The city lists Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours of 10:00–19:30, so treat it as a weekend option rather than a daily part of the market. Its published end date is 25 December, which is unclear because the main chalets are closed that day.
Solidarity market in Parc de l’Évêché
A solidarity Christmas market is announced for 4 to 6 December, 10:00–18:00, with craft products made by people with disabilities. The further information page linked by the city was unavailable during research, so check the current programme shortly before your visit and plan it as a separate stop in your day.
What else is on in Amiens during Advent 2026?
Several activities share the season but keep their own dates and hours. A season range does not mean every activity runs every day.
Chroma on the cathedral façade
The city’s event page dated 2026 gives 27 November to 27 December, with a daily start at 19:00 and a duration of 50 minutes. A general programme page shows 29 November to 29 December next to a reference to 2024. The guide follows the 2026 page, so days after 27 December are not confirmed Chroma evenings.
Santa’s village and the ice rink
Santa’s village in the town hall courtyard runs from 21 November to 24 December, with different times on school days and holidays and a lunch break. The ice rink at Square Saint-Denis is announced for 21 November to 30 December with its own daily hours. The organiser recommends gloves.
Promenade des Sorciers on Place Gambetta
The city announces a themed seasonal setting on Place Gambetta called Promenade des Sorciers. Its page states that access at night is prohibited, so plan it before your evening programme. The city also publishes individual dates for travelling street performances; check the time and area for your day.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Amiens Christmas market open on Sundays?
Yes. The main market is published as open on Sundays from 11:00 to 19:30. Keep in mind that Sunday buses run less often than on weekdays and that the cathedral treasury visit is not normally available on Sundays. The makers’ market at the town hall lists Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours of 10:00–19:30.
Is the Amiens Christmas market open on Christmas Day?
No. The main market is closed on 25 December, and on 24 December the main chalets close at 17:00. The towers, the treasury, the Musée de Picardie and Maison de Jules Verne are also closed on 25 December, so that day needs a quiet plan. The makers’ market lists 25 December as its end date, but the guide treats this as unconfirmed.
How long is the Amiens Christmas market?
The organiser describes roughly two kilometres of market paths between Place René Goblet and Place de l’Hôtel de Ville. This is not an exact distance for your own walk. On a short visit, choosing two or three stops and one section often works better than trying to walk every branch of the market.
Does the Amiens Christmas market stay open after Christmas?
Yes. The main market is announced for 28, 29 and 30 December, closing at 17:00 on the 30th. Chroma is not confirmed after 27 December and Santa’s village ends on 24 December. The ice rink is announced until 30 December. A cultural and shopping break is still possible between Christmas and New Year.
Can I bring my dog to the Amiens Christmas market?
The market organiser allows dogs on leads along the route. Shops, cultural venues and individual activities have their own rules, and the cathedral tower operator does not admit animals on the towers. Busy evenings on Fridays and Saturdays may be less comfortable for a dog than a weekday afternoon.
