The regular season at a glance
Goslar's Advent season is easy to understand once you separate the central market from the one-weekend event at Rammelsberg. The central market covers three connected areas in the old town. Access is free, and you can come and go as you like during opening hours. Most days follow the same pattern, which makes a spontaneous afternoon visit straightforward.

The word normally matters. Organisers can adjust hours, and individual stalls may open later or close earlier. If you are travelling a long way for an evening visit, check the official market page a few days before you go.
Special opening times over Christmas
Four dates break the usual pattern. They are worth noting before you book a train or a room.
24 December: 11:00-14:00. An afternoon route does not work on Christmas Eve.
25 December: 12:00-19:00.
26 December: 12:00-19:00.
30 December: 11:00-18:00, the final day of the season.
The guide makes one point clearly: the forest's regular closing time of 22:00 is not a confirmed extension of these special holiday hours. If you want to walk through the illuminated trees late on 24, 25, 26 or 30 December, ask the organiser directly about that date. There is also no market promise for New Year's Eve, as the published season ends on 30 December.
Rammelsberg: a separate Christmas market on one weekend
The Rammelsberg mining museum at Bergtal 19 holds its own Christmas market above and below ground on 12 and 13 December 2026, from 11:00 to 18:00 on both days. The organiser combines crafts, food, music and children's activities. Unlike the old town, it is ticketed: €9 for the market (reduced €5) or €16 with the Roeder tunnel walk (reduced €10).
Entry runs through two admission windows, 11:00-14:00 and 14:00-18:00. The window controls when you enter, not how long you stay, so visitors entering early may remain until closing. There is no visitor parking at the museum that weekend; use bus 803 from the station forecourt or the park-and-ride from Alte Heerstraße in Baßgeige.
Other dates worth knowing
Two smaller Advent offerings have their own calendars, and both finish well before Christmas.
Goslarsche Höfe decoration sale: 23 November to 5 December in the Hof-Forum at Okerstraße 32, Monday to Friday 09:00-18:00 and Saturday 09:00-14:00. No Sunday opening is listed.
Nativity workshop at the Tin Figure Museum: 5 December, during museum opening hours, with the kit listed at €9.
Christmas workshop at the MachMit!Haus: announced for Saturdays and Sundays on the second to fourth Advent weekends, 13:00-18:00, but without confirmed 2026 dates at the time of research.
Which dates suit which kind of visit
Choose your date around what matters most to you. For the old town alone, any day from 25 November works, and a weekday afternoon gives you the full 11:00-20:00 window. If Rammelsberg is the reason for your trip, 12 or 13 December is the only option, and an overnight stay lets you give each setting its own day. If festive decorations interest you, come before the Höfe sale ends on 5 December. After Christmas, the central market is still open until 30 December, but Rammelsberg and the Höfe sale are over.
