With children, plan a short circuit through the Goslar Christmas market with one warm break and at most one extra activity that is confirmed for 2026. A Christmas workshop at the MachMit!Haus on Marktplatz is announced, but without firm 2026 dates at the time of research. The Tin Figure Museum is a reliable indoor option from Tuesday to Sunday. The Goslar Christmas markets guide has a ready-made family route and a family check list.

What is announced for families

The organiser's pages announce a Christmas workshop at the MachMit!Haus on Marktplatz, with crafts, play and supervision. The recurring pattern given is Saturday and Sunday on the second, third and fourth Advent weekends, 13:00-18:00. The announcement is undated, so check the published 2026 programme and participation conditions before you build a trip around it.

The general children's page also contains weekday and date combinations that do not fit 2026. For that reason the guide does not treat a St Nicholas visit or a family afternoon as confirmed. That does not mean there will be none. It means reliable confirmation was missing when we researched, so do not book a trip solely around an unconfirmed free activity.

A family afternoon in five steps

  1. Before starting: choose just one extra activity, and only if it is expressly confirmed for 2026.
  2. Early afternoon: a short market circuit from an agreed meeting point. Look together for a motif: stars, wooden figures or lights.
  3. Afterwards: a warm break with seating, food and toilet time, in a place with confirmed opening hours.
  4. Later: the Christmas forest on Schuhhof or a confirmed workshop. One more element is enough.
  5. To finish: head back according to everyone's mood, rather than waiting for the market to close.

The Tin Figure Museum with children

The Tin Figure Museum adds miniature scenes to a winter day and suits children who like to look closely. Each family member can choose a motif and show the others what they noticed. It is open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00-17:00 and closed on Mondays, 24 and 25 December and 1 January. A family ticket for up to two adults and their children costs €14. There is no tin-figure casting on Sundays or public holidays, so an open museum does not guarantee every activity.

On 5 December the museum hosts nativity-scene crafting, with the kit listed at €9 and registration recommended. Ask which ages it suits, how much time to allow and how to carry the finished piece home.

Rammelsberg for families

The Rammelsberg Christmas market on 12 and 13 December includes children's activities above and below ground. It needs a ticket, and the guide advises against assuming a general child or family concession unless it is expressly stated. Reduced tickets cost €5 for the market. Children's activities may have their own participation times on top of your admission window.

Questions to settle before you go

  • Is the activity explicitly dated 2026?
  • Are ages, registration, costs and accompanying-adult rules clear?
  • Have we planned a definite warm break and an accessible toilet?
  • Is our meeting point unmistakable and away from narrow passages?
  • Can we leave earlier if the weather or mood changes?

Frequently asked questions

Is there a children's workshop at the Goslar Christmas market?

A Christmas workshop at the MachMit!Haus on Marktplatz is announced for Saturdays and Sundays on the second to fourth Advent weekends, 13:00-18:00. Check the 2026 programme for exact dates, ages and whether an adult must stay.

Is St Nicholas coming to the Goslar market in 2026?

Not confirmed at the time of research. The children's page mixed current and older dates, so check again once the 2026 programme is published.

Is the Goslar market suitable for pushchairs?

The guide does not include a fully checked step-free route through the market areas. Ask specifically about surfaces and narrow points, and note that the Tin Figure Museum acknowledges limited accessibility.

If rain is forecast, our page on the Goslar Christmas market in the rain has indoor ideas. The family route and check list are in the Goslar Christmas Markets 2026 guide.
