The market FAQ lists several garages for the Carmel Christkindlmarkt, including Midtown North at 145 Elm Street, Midtown South at 580 Veterans Way and Civic Square at 50 Red Truck Road. Public parking is presented as free. On Saturdays and Sundays the organiser describes a shuttle from the former CNO campus at 550 College Drive to the 3rd Avenue area, and accessible parking is listed in the Tarkington Garage on 3rd Avenue SW. The Carmel Christmas market guide covers parking, the shuttle and accessibility in one chapter.

Garages near Carter Green

The market itself is at 10 Carter Green, between the Palladium and the Tarkington Theater. Save that address separately from your parking destination. The best place to drive to is not necessarily the most convenient pedestrian entrance.

  • Midtown North: 145 Elm Street
  • Midtown South: 580 Veterans Way
  • Civic Square: 50 Red Truck Road
  • Tarkington Garage: 3rd Avenue SW, listed for accessible parking

These are possible starting points, not promises of a free space. Check the organiser's current arrival guidance on the day of your visit and follow the signs when you arrive. The free public parking described in the FAQ does not automatically include private property or spaces with different conditions, so read the signs where you stop.

The weekend shuttle

For Saturdays and Sundays during the season, the organiser describes a shuttle from 550 College Drive to the 3rd Avenue area. Its stated aim is an arrival roughly every 15 minutes during market hours.

  • Frequency: treat the 15 minutes as a target, not a guaranteed waiting time.
  • Return: know where the return shuttle leaves from and allow time for waiting, especially towards closing time.
  • Operation: confirm on the day that the service is running as announced.

The shuttle is linked to market hours, so on a Saturday it fits a visit between noon and 9pm, on a Sunday between noon and 8pm. Midweek, when the market opens at 4pm on Wednesday and Thursday, plan to drive to a garage or use a ride.

Accessibility on arrival

There is an important distinction in the organiser's information. Of the two shuttle vehicles described, only the larger 40-passenger shuttle is explicitly identified as accessible. Do not assume every arriving shuttle can take your mobility aid. If you have specific requirements, settle on a suitable arrival option before you travel, for example the accessible parking in the Tarkington Garage.

The organiser also offers a limited number of free transport wheelchairs, subject to availability and with identification required. These chairs need another person to push, so they are not a solution for independent mobility. Ask about availability beforehand rather than relying on one at the gate.

Small habits that help

  • Photograph the entrance of your garage and note the level and the way back. This helps if you leave the market from a different side.
  • Agree on a pickup point for rides that does not block paths or access roads.
  • Leave before closing if you rely on the shuttle, rather than joining the last rush.
  • Decide who drives before anyone orders mulled wine.
