The Amiens Christmas market 2026 is announced for 20 November to 30 December. The main chalets open at 11:00 and close at 19:30 from Monday to Thursday and on Sundays, and at 21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. On 24 and 30 December they close at 17:00, and on 25 December the main market is closed. Our page on Amiens Christmas market 2026 dates and places lists every date on one screen.
The organiser publishes one simple weekly pattern for the main market, which stretches through the city centre from Place René Goblet to Place de l’Hôtel de Ville. Entry is free.
Shops and food businesses in the centre may keep different hours from the chalets. If you arrive by an early train, plan a breakfast break before 11:00 rather than expecting the whole market to be open.
The market itself starts on Friday 20 November. The city’s illuminated launch celebration follows a day later, on 21 November, from 17:30 in the town hall courtyard. The same weekend sees the start of Santa’s village in the town hall courtyard and the ice rink at Square Saint-Denis, both from 21 November. If you want the first evening with lights and the family activities together, 21 November is the date to note.
Several things happen during the season but follow separate dates. The guide keeps them apart so you do not plan an activity on a day it is not running.
Friday and Saturday give you the longest market evening and the makers’ market as an extra stop. A Saturday adds free Ametis buses, according to the city and the market organiser. Sundays have fewer buses and no treasury visit at the cathedral. Weekdays matter for the cultural venues: the Musée de Picardie normally closes on Mondays, and Maison de Jules Verne and the regular tower and treasury visits close on Tuesdays.
The days after Christmas are a quieter option. The main market is announced for 28, 29 and 30 December, but Chroma is not confirmed after 27 December and Santa’s village has already ended.
On 20 November 2026 at 11:00. The illuminated launch celebration is on 21 November from 17:30 in the town hall courtyard.
On 30 December 2026, with the chalets closing at 17:00 that day. Chroma ends earlier, on 27 December.
Yes, the organiser states that entry to the main market is free. Food, drinks, purchases and individual activities cost extra.
