Driving to Goslar in Advent? Which car parks the visitor information lists for the old town market, which streets to avoid and how Rammelsberg differs.
For the Goslar city-centre Christmas market, the organiser's visitor information lists the large Osterfeld car park and Füllekuhle among the options, both described as free. From Friday to Sunday, Bolzenstraße, Marktstraße and Glockengießerstraße are reserved for residents with a permit. Car parks for the old town market
The visitor information names several options for the city-centre market. Two stand out in our research:
Osterfeld: a large car park intended for visitors to the city-centre Christmas market, described as free.

Even so, check the signs on arrival. Permitted parking duration and event changes are set on site, and a general online statement does not replace the rules at the actual space. If you plan to stay into the evening, check exit access before you go: the Christmas forest is normally open until 22:00, but that does not mean every car park remains accessible equally late. This applies particularly to multi-storey car parks.
Streets reserved for residents
According to the visitor information, Bolzenstraße, Marktstraße and Glockengießerstraße are reserved for residents with the appropriate permit from Friday to Sunday. Do not look for a visitor space there at weekends. Driving around the narrow streets near the market costs time and adds to the congestion; heading straight for a listed car park is the calmer option.
Rammelsberg: a different system
On the Rammelsberg Christmas weekend, 12 and 13 December, there is no visitor parking at the museum. Drivers use the free park-and-ride from Alte Heerstraße in Baßgeige. Shuttles run every 20 minutes, the first at 10:30, and the final return bus from Rammelsberg to Baßgeige leaves at 19:00.
The guide stresses one point: there is expressly no Rammelsberg shuttle from Osterfeld. A car park that suits the old town does not solve transport to the mining museum. If you want both in one day, plan the transfer between them separately with a current connection, or move the car.
