Ir al artículo ↓November is usually the wettest month on Koh Samui. The northeast monsoon brings heavy showers, grey days and rough sea on the east coast, but it rarely rains all day every day, and many visitors still get several hours of sun between downpours. Plan short outings, keep boat trips flexible and choose your beach base with the wind in mind. Our Koh Samui Itineraries include rain swaps for each day route, which helps a lot in this month.
Koh Samui sits in the Gulf of Thailand, so its weather runs on a different calendar from Phuket and the Andaman coast. While the west coast of Thailand dries out from November, Samui gets its main rain from about October to December. That makes late-year trips a trade-off: lower room prices and fewer people, against wetter days and some cancelled tours.
Expect a mix rather than a wall of rain. Typical patterns in November:
Rain totals vary a lot from year to year. Some Novembers are mild, others bring several stormy days in a row. Check the Thai Meteorological Department and a marine forecast a few days before you fly, and again each evening on the island.
The beach you pick matters more in November than in March. The east coast takes the wind directly; the north and west are more sheltered.
If swimming is a priority, the north or west coast is the safer bet. If you want things to do when it pours, Chaweng or Lamai make that easier.
Most of the island keeps running in November. Temples, viewpoints, markets, cooking classes, spas and restaurants are open. The things that change are the sea and the roads.
Keep one outdoor slot per day and attach an indoor backup to it.
Room prices often drop in November compared with the peak from late December to April. Many resorts offer lower rates or upgrades. The Christmas and New Year period is the exception: from around 20 December prices rise sharply, even if the weather is still unsettled.
It is the rainiest month on average, but not a write-off. Expect some wet days and rough sea on the east coast. If you are flexible and mainly want warm weather, food and a slower pace, it works. For guaranteed beach days, February to April is more reliable.
The north and west coasts, such as Bophut, Maenam and Lipa Noi, are usually more sheltered from the northeast wind than Chaweng and Lamai.
Many do on calmer days, but cancellations at short notice are normal. Keep the trip early in your stay so you can move it.
The Koh Samui Itineraries give you ten day routes with a rain alternative for each, and Where to Stay in Koh Samui compares the beach areas so you can pick a base that suits the season. Both come in English, Spanish or German.
Weather patterns, times and prices are planning estimates, not forecasts or guaranteed rates. Check official forecasts and operators before you go.
