Lübeck Christmas market 2026: dates, places and opening times
The traditional Christmas market in Lübeck is announced for 23 November to 30 December 2026, around the town hall and Breite Straße. Craft markets, the waterfront and family markets each run on their own calendar. This page sorts them by date and place.
When is the Lübeck Christmas market 2026?
The traditional Christmas market at Markt and Breite Straße runs from 23 November to 30 December 2026. The provisional organiser sheet gives 11:00–21:00 Sunday to Thursday and 11:00–22:00 on Friday and Saturday at Markt. Outdoor markets close on 24 and 25 December and reopen at 13:00 on 26 December. Craft markets start earlier: Lübsche Wiehnacht at Schuppen 6 on 21–22 and 28–29 November, St. Petri from 24 November and the Hospital from 27 November. Koberg and Hafenglühen end on 29 December, the central squares on 30 December at 18:00.

Which Christmas markets are in Lübeck's old town centre?
The central stroll covers Markt, Breite Straße and Marienkirchhof. Several areas sit close together but keep separate calendars and hours.
Traditional market by the town hall
The starting point for most first visits. Provisional hours are 11:00–21:00 Sunday to Thursday and 11:00–22:00 on Friday and Saturday. Breite Straße and Schrangen are generally scheduled for 11:00–21:00 daily, and food stalls may keep the longer Markt hours. On 30 December the provisional closing time is 18:00.
Historical market
Announced from 23 November to 23 December 2026, so it is not part of a trip between Christmas and New Year. The organiser confirms the season; check the current event page for daily hours and programme details before you go.
Sternenwald and Märchenwald
Current city information places Sternenwald at Klingenberg, 23 November to 30 December. Older summaries still say Schrangen, so check the square before you save it. Märchenwald, beside St. Marien, has the same season; exact daily hours were not yet confirmed at the time of research.
When are the Lübeck craft markets in 2026?
Three indoor craft markets shape the November and early December calendar. Their windows are short, so plan your dates around them.
Lübsche Wiehnacht
Held in the harbour warehouse on Untertrave on two weekends only: 21–22 and 28–29 November 2026. There is no market between the weekends, and exhibitors change for the second one. A cafeteria serves waffles, cake and snacks. Opening hours and admission were not published at the time of research.
Heiligen-Geist-Hospital
Daily 11:00–19:00 from 27 November to 6 December 2026. Admission is €4 for adults and €2 for school pupils and students; children aged 16 and under enter free. Only the church hall is accessible with a wheelchair, walking frame or pushchair.
Craft market at St. Petri
Daily 11:00–19:00 from 24 November to 20 December 2026. Admission is €4, with free entry for children under twelve. Many stalls change on 7 December, which gives a second visit in the later half of the season its own selection.
Where are Hafenglühen, Koberg and the family markets?
The northern old town and the waterfront hold the maritime markets and Wichtelwunderland. Koberg and Drehbrückenplatz are two different places.
Maritime Christmas market
From 23 November to 29 December 2026, 11:00–21:00 Sunday to Thursday and 11:00–22:00 on Friday and Saturday. Closed on 24 and 25 December; on 26 December it is planned from 13:00 to 20:00. It pairs well with the Hospital craft market next door.
Hafenglühen
The waterfront market runs from 23 November to 29 December 2026. Monday to Thursday it opens at 15:00 and closes at 21:00; Friday and Saturday 11:00–22:00, Sunday 11:00–21:00. It stays closed from 24 to 26 December inclusive, so it is not part of a Boxing Day plan.
Wichtelwunderland
Wichtelgolf runs daily 11:00–19:00 from 23 November to 29 December, free entry with equipment against a deposit. The free workshop opens Friday to Sunday, 14:00–19:00, from 27 November to 20 December, for up to 20 children per session. Choose one activity with the children first.

Is the Lübeck Christmas market open on Christmas Day?
No. The city lists closures for the outdoor markets on 24 and 25 December. On 26 December several locations reopen at 13:00 and close earlier than usual, around 20:00 on Koberg. Hafenglühen at Drehbrückenplatz remains closed on 26 December as well.
Which Lübeck Christmas markets are open after Christmas?
Koberg and Hafenglühen run until 29 December, and the central squares until 30 December with an 18:00 close. The Hospital, St. Petri and the historical market have finished by then. In Travemünde, Schiff ahoi and the Neujahrsgarten are announced until 3 January 2027.
Is there an entry fee for the Lübeck Christmas markets?
The guide lists admission prices only for the indoor craft markets: €4 for adults at St. Petri and at the Hospital. At the outdoor squares, budget separately for rides, food, drinks and gifts. Prices for Schuppen 6 were not published by the organiser at the time of research.
