The best time for Fisherman's Village in Bophut, what to expect on the evening, the market question, getting back to your hotel and three routes ending there.

Direkt zum Artikel ↓The best time to visit Fisherman's Village in Bophut is late afternoon into the evening: arrive around 16:30, walk the waterfront and side streets, then choose where to eat. The village works without its market, which runs only on certain dates, so check the current market schedule before you build an evening around it. Treat it as a whole evening, not a stop between drives.
Below: when to go, what to expect once you are there, how to get back and three day routes that end in the village.
Our day routes on Samui keep the midday hours light and put Fisherman's Village at the end of the day. On the northeast temple route you reach it at 16:30 after a morning at the temples and a long lunch near Choeng Mon. On our arrival-day route, dinner in the village is planned for 18:00.
About the market: whether one is on depends on the current local schedule, so confirm the date rather than assuming it happens every night. The waterfront, the side streets and the restaurants make a good evening on their own. If a market night matters to you, plan the rest of your week around that date, not the other way round.
If you are staying nearby, go more than once. The first visit is usually a little rushed; on a second or third evening you know where you want to sit and can enjoy the place without treating it as an outing.
For a planned resort dinner, Guilty at Anantara Bophut is one option in our Koh Samui Offline Place Guide. Check the current menu and booking conditions, and how you will get back to your own accommodation.
Samui has no metro, so unless you can walk, the village is a road journey. From Samui Airport, allow 15–35 minutes to Bophut. From Maenam Beach it is 20–35 minutes by car to Bophut Beach; from Choeng Mon, 20–40 minutes to the village.
Agree the fare before you get in and check whether the quote is per vehicle or per person. Most importantly, arrange the ride home before you sit down to dinner. Evening traffic, patchy pavements and steep side roads can make even short distances awkward after dark.
If you are booking a hotel in Bophut because of the village, look closely at the address. Bophut is a strong first-visit base for evening dining, but a hillside property changes your daily transport budget. Check the actual walk to Fisherman's Village and back after dark, not just the area name on the booking page.
The quieter northern day also works as a backup when an Ang Thong boat trip is cancelled for weather. On your last full day, you can return to Choeng Mon, add Wat Plai Laem if you want another stop, and end with dinner in Bophut.
Do not assume so. The market follows the current local schedule, so check the date you want. The village still makes a pleasant evening when no market is on.
Late afternoon. Our routes arrive at 16:30, leaving time to walk the waterfront before dinner. On an arrival day, plan dinner around 18:00.
By car, about 20–35 minutes to Bophut Beach, then a 10–20 minute walk to the village. Agree the fare in advance and arrange your return before dinner.
Yes, if your hotel is genuinely within walking distance. Check the route to the village and the return after dark, because a hillside address means taking a ride every evening.
Fisherman's Village, Bophut Beach and Guilty at Anantara Bophut are among the 23 places in the Koh Samui Offline Place Guide (PDF, CSV, HTML), which you can search without a connection. If you are still choosing a base, Where to Stay in Koh Samui compares Bophut with five other areas. The three routes above, with times and alternatives, are in Koh Samui Itineraries.
