The Thuringian craft Christmas market takes place in the courtyard at Fischmarkt 13/17 on 3–6 and 10–13 December 2026, Thursday to Sunday on the second and third Advent weekends. It opens from noon each day; the announcement does not give a closing time. The days in between, 7 to 9 December, are not part of the schedule. The Erfurt Christmas Markets 2026 guide builds two routes around these dates.
The heading of the organiser's announcement mentions 3–13 December as an overall span. The text itself specifies only the two weekend blocks. The guide therefore does not recommend 7, 8 or 9 December for a craft visit.
Aim for the early or middle afternoon. If you can only arrive in the evening, check an updated organiser notice first.
Fischmarkt is also one of the regular Christmas market locations, open daily from 10:00 to 20:00. The craft courtyard at number 13/17 is a separate event with its own calendar. If crafts are the main reason for your trip, make the courtyard the centre of your day and use the other squares as additions. The announcement reviewed does not promise a particular exhibitor list or specific product categories, so go with curiosity rather than a fixed shopping list.
A craft market is a chance to look closely and talk to the people behind the stall. The label alone does not explain where each item was made, and a local seller does not automatically mean local production. Three questions help:
If you arrange to collect a piece later, agree on an exact time, since the closing time is not published. If shipping is offered, clarify the price, delivery charges and timing directly.
Krämerbrücke is a short walk away and offers a different kind of shopping: galleries and shops with ceramics, glass, jewellery, wooden work and regional food, each with its own opening hours. Seeing the bridge in the morning and the courtyard after lunch works well, with Domplatz as the second focus later.
On Thursday 3 or 10 December, you can also combine the courtyard with the Augustinian monastery's Advent tour at 16:30. It lasts around 90 minutes and costs €22 per person. Leave enough time for the walk and the meeting point at reception.
The guide cannot confirm this. An address alone does not tell you the width or surface of the courtyard entrance. If you have particular access needs, check with the organiser beforehand.
Not necessarily. A courtyard is not automatically covered, and the announcement does not promise protection from the weather. Dress for being outdoors.
No. The guide treats the bridge as a shopping and architecture walk, not as an additional Christmas market confirmed for 2026.
For all market dates in one place, see Erfurt Christmas market 2026. Gift tips, routes and access details are in the Erfurt guide (PDF).
Research status: 27 October 2026. Dates and opening times are planning information and can change, so please check the organiser's current announcement before you travel.
