The Rammelsberg Christmas market in Goslar takes place on 12 and 13 December 2026, from 11:00 to 18:00. A market ticket costs €9 (reduced €5), and a combination ticket with the Roeder tunnel walk costs €16 (reduced €10). You choose an admission window of 11:00-14:00 or 14:00-18:00, and the organiser describes tickets as non-cancellable. The Goslar Christmas markets guide walks you through the booking sequence step by step.

What the ticket gets you

The organiser combines above-ground and underground areas of the former mine with crafts, food, music and children's activities. It is a different kind of visit from the free city-centre market, with its own structure: an entry window, possibly a tunnel appointment and a planned journey there and back.

  • Christmas market: €9 standard, €5 reduced
  • Market plus Roeder walk: €16 standard, €10 reduced

These published prices apply to the 2026 event weekend. Check whether you qualify for a reduced ticket during booking or with the organiser. The guide warns against assuming a general child, family or disability concession unless it is expressly stated for your ticket.

How the admission windows work

There are two windows: 11:00-14:00 and 14:00-18:00. They decide when you may enter, not the total length of your stay. According to the organiser, visitors entering in the first window may stay until the event closes at 18:00. So an early window does not mean you have to leave at 14:00.

Which window to choose depends on your journey. If you arrive by train in the morning, the first window gives you the longest possible visit. If you want to see the old town first, the second window lets you spend the morning in the centre, but plan the transfer with a current connection, as there is no shuttle from the city-centre car park at Osterfeld to Rammelsberg.

Market only, or market plus Roeder walk?

You do not automatically need the Roeder tunnel walk. If you mainly want the atmosphere and the stalls, the market ticket is enough. If you also want to see the tunnel, check the combination ticket and an available appointment. A few facts help the decision:

  • Duration: the walk lasts around 20 minutes.
  • Appointments: scheduled between 11:00 and 17:00.
  • Check-in: report to the museum ticket desk 30 minutes before your appointment.
  • Accessibility: the walk is unsuitable for wheelchairs and walking frames; the market itself is described as suitable for mobility aids.
  • Availability: combination tickets may sell out while market tickets are still available.

The booking sequence

The guide suggests this order, which avoids the most common mistakes:

  1. Choose the date, 12 or 13 December.
  2. Select the ticket type: market alone or with the Roeder walk.
  3. Check the admission window against your arrival.
  4. Choose a Roeder appointment if you want one.
  5. Plan transport with enough time to spare.

Read the conditions carefully before paying. Tickets are described as non-cancellable, and ordinary museum vouchers and discounts do not automatically apply to this event. Do not assume the ordinary museum programme runs during the Christmas market.

Practical points for the day

Your ticket also works as a bus ticket: the organiser states that travel on bus 803 from the station forecourt is free with a valid event ticket. There is no visitor parking at the museum during the event weekend, and drivers use the free park-and-ride from Alte Heerstraße in Baßgeige. Dogs are not allowed on the event grounds or in the museum, except assistance dogs.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Rammelsberg Christmas market free?

No. Unlike the city-centre market, it requires a ticket: €9 standard for the market, €16 with the Roeder walk. Reduced tickets cost €5 and €10, subject to the organiser's eligibility rules.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

The guide recommends arranging tickets in advance and does not confirm door sales. As combination tickets may sell out, booking ahead is the safer choice.

Can a group split between ticket types?

Yes, groups can choose different ticket types. Agree on a meeting point and reunion time for while some of you are on the Roeder walk.
