For 2026, two Barcelona dates are clear so far: Festivalet in Sant Andreu on 12 and 13 December, and the harbour Fira de Nadal, which the Port Vell agenda lists for November 2026 to January 2027. The event website gives 27 November to 6 January. Santa Llúcia, the Sagrada Família fair and the Fira de Reis on Gran Via had not yet published their 2026/27 calendars when the guide was researched. Our overview of the Barcelona Christmas market 2026 keeps all places and dates on one page.

What is announced for 2026

The Tabiara guide separates announced dates from older calendars. That matters in Barcelona, because several organisers still showed the previous season at the end of October.

  • Festivalet: the organiser announces 12 and 13 December 2026 at the former Fabra i Coats textile factory, Carrer de Sant Adrià 20. Visitor hours and admission for 2026 still need checking, as the general FAQ refers to the 2025 edition.
  • Fira de Nadal at the harbour: the official Port Vell agenda lists November 2026 to January 2027. The event website names 27 November to 6 January, but the harbour agenda reviewed does not yet confirm those exact days.
  • Tió theatre in Putxet: 16 December 2026 at 17:30, Espai Putxet, Carrer de Marmellà 13. Admission is free and booking is required. It is a cultural event for families, not a market.

Still to be announced: Santa Llúcia, Sagrada Família and Gran Via

For the three traditional fairs, the pages reviewed still documented 2025/26. The guide treats those dates as history, not as a forecast for this year.

  • Santa Llúcia on Avinguda de la Catedral: the 2025 calendar ended on 23 December.
  • Sagrada Família fair: the organiser's page gives 22 November to 23 December 2025.
  • Fira de Reis on Gran Via: the 2025/26 edition ran from 18 December 2025 to 6 January 2026, and the two sources gave different daily hours.

If one of these fairs is your only reason for travelling, wait for the new announcement before booking transport or a room around it. Flexible booking conditions help while dates are still open.

Opening times: what is known and what is not

None of the markets had confirmed daily opening hours for 2026 in the sources reviewed. The guide does list fixed times for places you may want to combine with a market visit.

  • Museu Marítim: 10:00 to 20:00, last admission 19:00. It closes at 15:00 on 24 and 31 December and is closed on 25 and 26 December and on 1 and 6 January.
  • Sagrada Família basilica: winter hours Monday to Saturday 09:00 to 18:00, Sunday 10:30 to 18:00. On 25 and 26 December and on 1 and 6 January, 09:00 to 14:00. Tickets are sold online only.
  • Metro: 05:00 to 23:00 on 24 December, and all night on 31 December.

An open basilica or museum does not tell you that the fair next to it is open. Check each market calendar on its own, ideally a few days before you go and again on the day.

Before Christmas or for the Three Kings

If nativity figures and decorations are what you are after, plan your trip for Advent. Both Santa Llúcia and the Sagrada Família fair ended on 23 December last season. A trip after Christmas works differently. Gran Via and the harbour are the places to check first, as the previous Gran Via edition ran until Three Kings' Day and the harbour agenda includes January. Even then, a date range does not promise that every stall opens on every public holiday.

For a design focus, the weekend of 12 and 13 December is the safest choice, since it is the one weekend with an announced event. Families staying into the following week can add the Tió theatre on Wednesday 16 December, provided they book a place.

Frequently asked questions

When does the Barcelona Christmas market open in 2026?

There is no single opening day, because Barcelona has several markets. The harbour fair's website names 27 November 2026, which the Port Vell agenda had not yet confirmed in detail. Santa Llúcia and the Sagrada Família fair had no 2026 dates on the research date.

When is Festivalet 2026?

On 12 and 13 December 2026 at Fabra i Coats in Sant Andreu. Check visitor hours and admission for this edition before you go. The regular hours of the building are not the fair's hours.

Are the markets open after Christmas?

Some may be. The harbour agenda includes January, and Gran Via's last edition ran until 6 January. The previous Santa Llúcia and Sagrada Família editions ended on 23 December.
